about
This song is a playful take on the story of our planet going underwater due to rising sea levels, where humans evolve to grow gills and continue to exist like weird fish people, intent on survival. How ironic that a cultural epicenter like New Orleans, whom we are indebted for so much of the music and art that we love, could be of the first to go, as the rise of capitalist industrialism and technology perseveres toward's eminent submersion!
Mostly though, I just imagine fish people~ groovin'.
lyrics
My swingin' Tchoupatoulas,
how could you've been gone so soon?
I'd barely shook the Zula,
you're sinking like old baloons,
Well my heart's a strong one,
I won't leave,
Send my lungs underwater,
I'm gonna breath,
I know it's lookin' like to be the end of the line,
I'd like to think that we could be the proper design.
Oh my sand in a potion bottle,
settle down for me,
so I can fill up with ocean water,
set out to sea.
oh I'm losin' solid ground,
I'm losin' solid ground,
I remember when you told me,
you'd rather be lost than dead,
well my heart's a strong one,
I won't leave,
send my lungs under water,
I'll breath,
I know it's lookin' like to be the end of the line,
I'd like to think that we could be the proper design,
Oh my sand in a potion bottle,
settle down for me,
(New Orlantis)
so I can fill up with ocean water,
set out to sea.
